Discovery Days

March 18 – 20, 2026

Discovery Days provide students in Grades PG1 – Grade 6 the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom. By participating in multiple unique learning experiences, students will enhance 21st century learning competencies while developing independence and personal growth.

Supervision:
All Experiential Learning Programs are supervised by DSC International School staff with a staff to student ratio of at least 1:15. Many programs have additional supervisors from external organizations with expertise in a wide range of areas.

Forest Adventure (Pre-Grade 1)
Forest Adventure

Pre-Grade 1

Students in Pre-grade 1 will explore the greenery surrounding Ma On Shan Country Park with Hong Kong Forest Adventure. In this program, students will demonstrate critical and creative thinking while building their very own rafts. They will also enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing, ball play, rock play, and a short hike. After connecting with nature, students will have a picnic before heading back to school. Students should bring their own lunch, snacks, and water shoes.

Sea and Land Habitats

Grade 1

In Grade 1, students will visit Ocean Park to meet the animals in the park’s exhibits. They will learn about their habitats, behaviours, and the importance of biodiversity. In the same week, students will head to Ark Eden, where they will participate in the “A Day on the Farm” program. They will learn about composting, planting, and worm farms. Additionally, students will go on an inquiry-based “bug walk” and engage in netting in the stream to observe and analyze local creatures. Students should bring their own lunch and snacks for both activities.

Imagination Takes Shape

Grade 2

In Grade 2, students will participate in two days of off-campus learning. On March 18th, they will have an adventurous day at Disneyland! Students will meet and greet various Disney characters and enjoy rides while bonding with their classmates.

On March 20th, students will explore the great outdoors at Shek O Beach. DSC will team up with The Shed to practice many 21st-century skills such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Students will utilize these skills as they explore pebbles and rocks to create artwork. Furthermore, they will practice their balancing skills while partaking in coasteering and a rock scramble.

Imagination Takes Shape

Grade 3

Grade 3 students will join the Grade 2s at Disneyland on March 18th. They will embark on an adventure to explore the thrill, creativity, and magic that Disney has to offer!

On March 20th, students will give back to the Earth by participating in a beach cleanup at Big Wave Bay. They will be reminded of the importance of taking care of the Earth and how to recycle properly. Afterwards, students will celebrate their hard work by enjoying some time on the beach. They should bring their own lunch and snacks.

Culture and Action Activity

Grade 4

In Grade 4, students will participate in two days of Experiential Learning. Their program combines cultural exploration with hands-on activities! Students will learn about Hong Kong culture through food! Students will learn how to make Wife Cake and Egg Tarts. The next day will feature outdoor adventures, including a thrilling sandcastle competition that encourages teamwork and artistic expression. The day will culminate with stand-up paddleboarding, enhancing their motor skills while enjoying the beauty of nature. This program is a unique opportunity for your child to develop new skills and an appreciation for Chinese Culture.

Nature Explorers Camp

Grade 5 – 6

Students will participate in 3 days of off-campus learning. Students in grades 5 and 6 can choose between a residential camp experience or a day camp experience.

Residential Camp
Students will be picked up from school on Wednesday, March 18th, and transported to HKAYP for an exciting 3-day, 2-night adventure! Throughout their stay, they will engage in a variety of excursions, including hikes, escape games, and rock pool explorations. This immersive experience promises to foster teamwork, build resilience, and create lasting memories. Food will be provided.

Day Camp
Students will be picked up every day at DSC International School and dropped off at around 4:30 pm. During their 3-day adventure, students will engage in a variety of activities designed to foster an appreciation for nature, empathy, and essential collaboration and leadership skills. They will participate in The Dialogue Experience, gaining insight into the perspectives of individuals with disabilities through meaningful conversations that explore the challenges they face. Additionally, students will discover Sai Kung’s Hakka history through interactive puzzles and riddles, enhancing their problem-solving abilities. The adventure continues with a stream trek in Ping Nam, where they will boulder and appreciate the beautiful natural surroundings. Students will need to bring a packed lunch every day.
